Important Questions to Ask 
When Buying a Group

Next, you will find a set of logistical points that many event buyers may not consider when simply looking at a band.  We have a crew of three people who’s sole function it is to assure the stage is neat, clean, everything is functioning properly, and that we will sound as you expect.


WHEN BUYING ENTERTAINMENT

Will the crew arrive two hours early - at no additional cost - to make sure their equipment is set up neatly and they are ready to start on time? 
Is the group’s equipment up to date so that the group sounds clear and punchy, yet not overly loud? 
Is the sound system large enough to cover the size of your party without overloading or distorting? 
Is the sound system safe (we have no speaker or lighting stands that people could potentially trip over)?  
If your cocktail hour is being held in a separate room from the main ballroom from where the band is performing, will the band be able to provide a separate sound system for use in the additional room at that time? What about a third potential system if the wedding itself is in a third location?  Is there a wireless mic available for the celebrant?
Does the band have a complete backup sound/lighting system in case of malfunction or failure?  
Does the band use wireless microphones so that anyone speaking can do so from most anywhere in the room?  
Does the band have their own sound engineer as part of the band who knows the music and adjusts the mix accordingly?  
Does the group offer all of your sound, lighting, and music needs in “one stop”, without having to hire multiple vendors to accomplish what you need/want visually or sonically?
Does the group use a third party sound or lighting company? if so, is that company’s equipment current and top of-the-line? Does the group offer uplighting, if you choose to rent speciality lights?  (this adds another unknown quantity and another group of people who may or may not be of the quality you are expecting and may or may not respect the integrity of your event.)  
Does the group need to have their sound mixing equipment set up in front of the band, off of the stage, with wires running to the middle of your room, creating a less elegant appearance and potential safety hazard?  None of our equipment resides off the stage.
And perhaps most important: is the group easy to work with.  Yes, we are, without question.


New Monopoly owns all of it’s own sound and lighting equipment and updates it regularly with the absolute best equipment available.  We travel with our own engineers that operate both our lighting and sound systems, plus, with our most recently upgrade, all audio changes that need to be made may be done so wirelessly from anywhere in the room (via iPad).  

We use no stands for our lighting or sound systems, we offer appropriate wireless units (where needed), and we carry a complete duplicate sound system in the unlikely event an issue renders our primary sound system out of commission (or, optionally, a second sound systems is needed in a different area of the event; ie. a ceremony outside with the secondary system with the main group using the main system inside.  

This arrangement allows for our total control of both sound and visuals, and guarantees all personnel will follow the same guidelines of proper personal etiquette the band members are required to.  It also assures that we look and sound impeccable in whatever venue we are performing, and that we can provide whatever sound or lighting options (including uplighting) you are looking for, managed under one umbrella as a one-stop experience.



PERSONNEL & PERSONAL SERVICES

Does the group have a strict no alcohol/no drugs policy? 
Is uniform black tie attire standard for all members (not just a group of mis-matched suits)? 
Does the group have a designated person to work closely with your event planner/coordinator to make sure your event proceeds on time and as planned? 
Is the group willing to work in tandem with all other providers to assure uniform execution of your event?
Will the band’s leader/event coordinator participate in a walk-through prior to your event to ensure everyone is on the same page, understanding that it requires a team effort to assure that your special day is executed with the attention to detail that you expect and that your event is a perfect lasting memory? 


New Monopoly has a zero tolerance policy toward all drugs and alcohol.   Our male performers wear coordinated tuxedos (our musicians wear black tuxedos, while our music director/conductor sometimes wears a white or specialty black tuxedo) and coordinated gowns are standard for our female entertainers.  Our event coordinator/owner make himself available throughout the evening for all needed coordination between vendors.  Additionally, should a walk-through be necessary prior to the actual event, he will be happy to join the other vendors to assure that the day of the event is executed with precision.

New Monopoly celebrates the diversity of our world and the human condition.  We have performed for couples of all sexual orientations, races, and for clients with varying disabilities.  We are happy to work with any and all to assure that your special day is everything you hope it to be.



SONG CHOICE

Does the band have the diversity of material to satisfy your tastes as well as those of your guests? 
Does the music director actively take notice of the response of your guests to the music being played, and change the pace immediately if the dance floor is not packed?
Does the band provide you with a complete song list where you can not only pick your favorite songs, but indicate those songs you simply don't want to hear?  
If you had a larger group in mind, will the band add additional members, at reasonable cost, to suit your needs?   


Our music director, in addition to being responsible for putting together all the material you hear on stage, is especially attentive to the reception of each song by your audience.  He will immediately make whatever changes are necessary to the song selections to assure that your dance floor is packed and your guests are enjoying the music.   We do not use “pre-set” play lists; every song is chosen based on the mood of the room at the moment the song is selected.  This amount of flexibility is unheard-of coupled with the technology the New Monopoly employs.  

If you had envisioned a larger group, this is something we can also accommodate, with additional horns, percussion, or really anything, limited only by your imagine.  If you would prefer a smaller unit, arrangements can be made for that as well.  We have optimized our music for the primary 8 piece group, but have also made sure we can accommodate any requests our clients may have.  Also, we offer musicians for your cocktail hour, and even have options for your ceremony, if all are being held at the same venue.
